The third day of our trip! Antietam, Maryland. Ron and Bill, looking a little tired from an early morning drive.

Here I am in front of a field that saw some of the bloodiest fighting of the Civil War.
There were 23,000 casualties here, in one day of fighting.

This is the sunken road where many Confederate and Union soldiers died.

Here is a picture I found on the Nation Park Service Website showing the dead on Bloody Lane (the sunken road from above).

Ron and Bill on Burnside's Bridge. This was another bloody site on the Antietam battlefield, back on September 17, 1862.

An aerial view of Fort McHenry, our next stop.

Ron and me hanging out at Fort McHenry, Baltimore Maryland.
This was a statue of Col Armistead, the man who commanded the fort at the time of the battle.

Fort McHenry was our last stop. We didn't have much time there because we needed to return our rental van.
I had a great time on this trip. I'm looking forward to future road trips with "just the guys." :)
